Ghalib a commendable Urdu poet


Ghalib is a famous name in the history of Urdu poetry.  He called a father of Urdu prose due to his remarkable contribution. He gave a new worth to Urdu poetry especially to Ghazal with his appealing writing style. He wrote lots of poetry on love, tragedy, sorrow, motivational, and emotional themes. His real name was Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan and he born on 27th December1797 in Agra. His forefathers belonged to Turkish. Many poetry lovers like Ghalib’s poetry due to his great efforts and luminous work on poetry

In the past before the huge contribution and involvement of Ghalib, the scope of poetry and especially Ghazal was very limited. Mostly writers wrote Gazal on the love and hate themes. He gave a new look to Urdu poetry. He changed the dimensions of the poetry and wrote on the social and many other highlighted issues also. It improved the interest of readers in poetry reading and also some critical and social reforms came into birth.

By nature he was a great observer philosopher. That’s why we can see that his poetry based on the philosophy, ethics and theological themes and also he wrote most on love. 

Remarkable Urdu prose by Ghalib:

 "Na tha kuchh toh Khuda tha, kuchh na hota toh Khuda hota
Duboya Mujhko hone ne, na hota Main toh kya hota?"
"When there was nothing, there was God
If nothing had been, God would have been
My very being has been my downfall
 If I hadn't been, what would it have mattered?"

Ghalib wrote 235 books and 1818 verses in Urdu and Persian. His most famous book is Divan e Ghalib.
He struggled a lot throughout his life. We can see in most of his poetry that he was never satisfied and happy with his life. Ghalib Died in 1969.
