Basic grammar of Urdu Language


Urdu is not just a language of Pakistan and India. Urdu is a living language and all over the world approximately 490 million people speak this language. In United Kingdom 1 million people are Urdu speakers. Urdu language is not a language of native speakers; it has produced a large numbers of well-known intellectuals and poets. It’s a combination of different languages so you can be familiar with others languages like Arabic, Persian, Turkish words after learning Urdu. As it has many common words of these languages.
Urdu is a language of Indo-Aryan and its ancient form called Vedic Sanskrit. Urdu and Hindi grammar and vocabulary have very close similarities. But some principles and script is different.
Urdu Letters and the Urdu Alphabets
Urdu letters and words are written from right to left opposed to English. Most Urdu Alphabets follow each others in writing and shapes, but these letters can change their shapes along with placement within a word. Urdu Alphabets has some Consonants and some vowels.
Urdu Pronunciation
Urdu hasn’t sound like English. It has some distinguish sound from English. So to learn Exact Urdu pronunciation you should reproduce words and sentences after native speakers. Make clear sounds difference between consonants and vowels.
Urdu Vocabulary
Urdu has borrowed vocabulary from Arabic, Persian and Turkish, while Hindi has borrowed its vocabulary from Sanskrit and some other languages.
Urdu Grammar
Urdu language has some gender differences in its grammar as compare to English. Every Noun in Urdu grammar is either masculine or feminine. In Urdu sentences we use postpositions (which come after nouns), rather than prepositions (which come before nouns). In Urdu grammar Adjectives change as the noun of gender modify.
