Ahmad Bashir

Ahmed Bashir was incredible Urdu Writer, journalist, intellectual and film director. He was born on 24 march 1923 in British India. He came to Pakistan after partition. He has a multidimensional personality. He left lots of heritage in the form of his children. They also are doing outstanding work for Urdu. Famous drama artist Bushera Ansari, and a great Urdu poetess neelam Bashir is his daughters. He is a brother of Urdu Afsana writer Begum Perveen Atif. Mehmooda wife of Ahmed Bashir is an Urdu classical singer. He also has best friends’ famous Urdu play and story writers Ibn-e-insha and mumtaz mufti. 

He got training as a actor from Bombay and later on he started work as a film writer. He worked a lot for many newspapers. But he got more recognition for the daily Imroze newspaper. For the first time Ahmed Bashir initiated feature writing in Urdu press and he hired as a sub editor. He also did lots of work as a film director. Ahmed Bashir was also a portrait writer. He made pen sketches of most famous Urdu writers in his book “jo milay thay Rastay main”. As a film director he made a film “Neela Perbat’. He was director and producer of this feature film.
