Faiz Ahmed Faiz a Distinct and Renowned Urdu poet



Faiz Ahmed Faiz was renowned, admirable and adored poet of Urdu language. He is famous around the world due to various reasons not just as a poet.  Faiz Ahmed Faiz was born in 13 February 1911 in Sialkot. He belonged to a religious family. In his childhood he sent to mosque to learn his religious education. His father was very educated and religious man, so Faiz brought up in a religious and very literal family.  He was not just an Urdu poet, but he also took part in lots of other movements and social schemes. 

Faiz Ahmed Faiz was a socialist and he had deep interest for the community in his heart. He was a member of a movement “Anjuman Tarraqi Pasand Mussanafin-e-Hind” for the progressive writers in India “and he was a part of many other movements also. He also had a deep relation with Sufi saints. He travelled throughout the world, his journey was not a common journey, and he travelled most of the time for an exile.  He wrote lots of Urdu poetry in his jail time period. In 1950 he sent to jail for 5 years in Rawalpindi Conspiracy case. There he wrote many verses as on the jail experience and all those were have very strong standard. Due to his jail experience he gave an extraordinary mix of revolution and lyric to the traditional Urdu poetry and he became a very famous among readers due to his immense poetry. 
This is one of his poetry which he wrote in the jail:
Mataa-e-lauho-qalam chin gayee
to kya gham hai
K khoon-e-dil mein dubo li hain
unglian Maine
Zubaan pe mohar lagee hai to kya
k rakh di hai
har ek halqa e zanjir pe zubaan


(They have taken away the pen and ink, so I have dipped my fingers in the blood of my heart. Doesn’t matter if they have sealed my lips; I have given voice to every link in the chain that shackles us).
He got many awards. When he was in jail he got Edward Said in Beirut and Louis MacNiece in London. These committees and associations made Faiz a noteworthy Urdu poet. In 1984 Faiz died.
