Urdu is a language of indo-Aryan. Different languages that gave birth and richness to Urdu are Arabic, Persian and Turkish. It has contrast with Hindi. Urdu is a language of courtesy and politeness.

Urdu- the official language
Urdu has the official language status in Pakistan and also in India. In Pakistan Urdu language has social, cultural and religious heritage. It also has the official language status in different states of India like Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and the national capital, Delhi.
Dialects
These are main Dialects of Urdu in India
- Dakhini. It is commonly spoken in Hyderabad and Maharashtra.
- Pinjari.
- Rekhta it is Urdu poetry.
- Khariboli it is spoken in Delhi, Lucknow, Karachi and Lahore.
Genders
In Urdu language there are two genders Masculine contains all males also including animals. Other is feminine contains all females also including animals. Ending vowels determines the gender.
Word order
The word order is first comes subject then object and at the end verb in a single sentence. This structure can be ignored if it is needed.
Urdu- a language of courtesy
Words written in Urdu show courtesy. There are specific words used that show respect to elders. Like in English people say you both for the elders and youngsters. But in Urdu for the elders you can use “app” as a respect as a meaning of you.
Urdu written in Roman scripts
In the British Raj Urdu had been written in Roman. In present days roman Urdu style is more common and gaining popularity in the youngsters while texting from the mobile phones and chatting on the internet.
Urdu- a language of literature
For more than two centuries in south Asia Urdu remained as a ruling language for the poetry. It’s a language of expressions. Lots of writers and poets have gained famous names for the Urdu poetry and for other interesting Urdu novels and books. In any field whether it is religious, social or science Urdu language is contributing remarkably.
